SACHER - A handmade world out of paper and technology

Ars Electronica Solutions contacted Daniela Leitner and me to help them execute a rather special project: Sacher, the world famous inventor of the Sacher Cake as well as an established high end hotel and restaurant, had decided to renovate a huge part of their building in Vienna's first district.

Ars Electronica was brought on board to bring in some fresh technological and interactive air without loosing the handmade touch of the brands heritage. Out of several display cabinets and screens we were asked to design and build a miniature of the Sacher building itself - all made by hand and out of paper. In combination with a huge screen behind the papercraft Ars Electronica was able to tell little animated stories that can be seen through the windows. The overall set design is a permanent installation that will showcase different seasons throughout the year.

A proper case study with more pictures and a making of will come soon!
