An ongoing love affair: designing for and working within the film industry

It is funny how things and topics always reappear, repeat themselves and play a constant role in your life. For me that has been film or the film industry. A lot of people don't know that half my studies i did film and animation courses instead of graphic design and advertising courses (the ones i should have been doing) I even considered to do a film master for documentary film. I did not end up going there but my best friend Valerie did - who is an amazing filmmaker now. I soon realized that i don't have the patience for film projects that take 2-3 years of my life and that i am better of with projects that are, let's say a little quicker (I guess that is also how i endet up in commercial animation). I did work for a production company before i entered advertising and i never gave up my love for moving images.

I am writing about this because i recently started a project with a company that comes out of the film industry. It is not yet to be revealed but it is going to be about the branding for a new product. Through that i realized how much i actually already have designed within the field and how much i was able to combine design and the love for film. I did opening titles for films (MA NA SAPNA), design entire film identities (from posters, postcards and ads / TEMPO GIRL) and even did set design for an entire film. And since i hardly ever gave all of this a platform i thought this is a good time to get some of those designs out of the drawer and put them on here - even if it is just the tip of the iceberg.
